Wambach, a Rochester, New York-native began her professional career as the legendary Mia Hamm’s strike partner. Since her first full international cap in 2001, Wambach has become the most dangerous finisher in the world—boasting an unmatched goal per game ratio. Signed to Nike on April 1, 2002, Abby's first goal for the U.S. Women’s National team came on April 27, 2002 against Finland in a 3-0 win. By 2005, Wambach had scored 45 times in 55 matches. In 2011, she netted four goals over the Summer, bringing her overall Tournament total to 13 and breaking Michelle Akers' team record in the process.
