Athletes must prepare effectively before training and competition to prevent injury and maximize performance. Todd Norman opens his presentation with three series of effective warm-up routines that include; basic movement drills, inclined treadmill activities, and a 3-minute jump rope routine. Coach Norman then goes on to demonstrate how dynamic stretching prior to training actively prepares the body by maintaining core temperature and increased blood flow to the muscles and joints. He presents more than 15 dynamic exercises that develop mobility, balance, body control, and enhanced range of motion. The next step in the program is the movement preparation series, where Coach Norman presents two routines that effectively prepare the athlete to accelerate and decelerate with precision and body control. These drills combine many basic movements such as sprinting, stopping, shuffling and turning to activate the physical demands and mental focus required for the ensuing training and/or competition.
